Mildred M. (Millie) (Vranik) Surk, 93, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Wednesday, July 17 at Augustana Rehab Facility in Marinette.
Born Dec. 28, 1926, to Michael and Elizabeth Rock, she was raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Mary Vranik in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School.
She married "Bud" Surk in 1946 and they ran a sawmill in the Upper Peninsula for a year with his brother, Junior Surk. They returned to Menominee where she worked as a lab technician and courier for Lambrecht Dental Laboratory until retirement.
Her nieces, nephews and their families loved her lively personality and sense of humor. She enjoyed playing golf in earlier years and, until recently, gathered with long-time friends for card parties. Many will remember her when they use the dishrags she knitted for them as gifts.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Werner J. (Bud) Surk in 1998; two sisters, Francis (John) Coppolino and Betty (Herbert) Hoffman and a brother, Carl Rock.
A memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Cadieu Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family.
