Jane Kopish Sequin Candidate for Judge
Issue Date: July 31, 2019
Jane Kopish Sequin announces her candidacy to fill the judicial position in Branch I of Marinette County Circuit Court. The position will be vacant as a result of Judge David Miron's announcement that he will retire in July of 2020. The election will take place on April 7, 2020.
A native of Marinette, she graduated from Catholic Central High School where she met her husband, Scott Sequin, also a Marinette native. They were married at Holy Family Chuch in 1988, and have four daughters.
She went on to attend the UW Marinette-Center, St. Norbert College and Marquette University Law School. Upon graduating from law school, she returned to Marinette to practice law with her father, Attorney William P. Kopish. She then worked for many years as a Family and Judicial Court Commissioner in Brown County. She is currently the Marinette County Court Commissioner and Register in Probate. She has over 21 years of experience on the bench, during which time she has presided over and rendered decisions in thousands of criminal, civil and family cases.
Her years in the courtroom have given her a true appreciation of the respect that is required in the practice of law and administration of justice. She stated "this includes respect for the law, all parties involved, and the decorum of the legal process itself."
She further stated, "my colleagues, friends, and family can attest to my steady temperament and history of decision making without bias. I would be honored to serve the Marinette County community as Circuit Court Judge."
