Menominee Defeats Gladstone for First Win of Season

Fox Valley Lutheran at Marinette

On "Pink Night" for Breast Cancer Awareness, the Marinette Marines varsity volleyball team lost last Thursday's home conference match against Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes (Appleton, WI) by a score of 3-0. FVL is atop the NEC conference and probably the toughest team the Marines have faced all season. "We're a young team and we've been struggling. Overall, we played alright but I feel like we could have played better. They (Fox Valley Lutheran) are a tough team, but I think we could have played even better yet," Jackson Miller, Marines coach. Chloe Campbell led the Marines in digs with 9 and one ace. While Amara Smalls lead the Marinette with 5 assists, 3 digs, and one sblock. Cienna Grawey and Casey Jensen each had two kills for the Marines. Marinette will play Little Chute at home on Thursday.

Pioneers at Blue Devils

OCONTO -
The Blue Devil varsity volleyball team won Thursday's home conference match against the Pioneers of Sevastopol (Sturgeon Bay, WI) by a score of 3-0. In game one, the Blue devils handily beat Sevastopol 25-13. The Pioneers made it more of a competition in game 2, but ultimately Oconto's game was too much and won it 25-18. In game 3, Oconto was all business and won the last game of the match 25-13. Oconto's ranking 5-1 in conference, and 24-4 overall.

The Coleman Cougars reigned supreme as they hosted the St. Thomas Aquinas Academy Cavaliers and the Lena Wildcats. STAA beat Lena three games to one: game 1: 26-24; game 2: 25-12; game 3: 17-25; game 4: 25-23. The Cougars also topped Lena three games to one: game 1: 19-25; game 2: 25-21; game 3: 19-25; game 4: 13-25. Coleman ruled over the Cavaliers 3 games to one as well: game 1: 21-25; game 2: 28-26; game 3 18-25, game 4: 22-25.

The Wausaukee Rangers and Gillett Tigers traveled to take on the Suring Eagles in a conference triangular. The Rangers were big winners who tamed both the Tigers and Eagles three games to none. Wausaukee's score against Gillett: 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20. Against Suring, the Rangers swept the games: 25-11, 25-15, and 25-17. Gillett was able to beat the Eagles: 25-11, 26-28, 25-17, and 25-23.

The Crivitz Wolverines played host to the Niagara Badgers and the Oneida Nation Thunderhawks in conference triangular. The Wolverines took Niagara to task and beat them in three straight games: 21-25, 17-25, and 19-25. A big blow to the Crivitz team was the loss of Emalee Johnson, their middle hitter went down against Niagara spraining her ankle. Crivitz also downed the Thunderhawks sweeping handily in three games as well: 9-25, 6-25, and 13-25.

October 5 Southern Door Invite

The Crivitz Wolverines traveled to Southern Door with a big hole in their middle after losing Emalee Johnson to an ankle injury to the Niagara Badgers on Thursday. The Crivitz varsity volleyball team lost Saturday's away tournament match against Southern Door (Brussels, WI) by a score of 2-0. The Crivitz varsity volleyball team lost Saturday's neutral tournament match against Two Rivers (WI) by a score of 2-0

Southern Door High School's volleyball team hosted the annual Eagle Invite Saturday, making it to the Championship Match. Overall, the Eagles were 4-1. Southern Door won the first three matches in straight sets, topped Gibraltar in the semifinal round in three, and lost to Wisconsin Lutheran in two.

Oneida Nation, St. Thomas Aquinas Academy at Lena

LENA-
The Wildcats played host to a bevy of teams from the area on Saturday. The St. Thomas Aquinas Academy Cavaliers took down the Stockbridge Indians 2-0: 25-12, 25-11. Lena was able to beat Oneida Nation in 2-0: 25-22 and 25-23. The Hornets of Elcho also beat Stockbridge 2-0: 25-20 and 25-23. The Fighting Nights of Phelps were taking down by the Lena Wildcats 2-0: 13-25, and 10-25. STAA lost to the Hornets two games to none: 22-25 and 25-21. While Oneida Nation was able to win a match against Phelps 2-0: 25-13 and 25-14.

Elcho defeated Lena in the 1st place game.

STAA defeated Oneida in the 3rd place game.

Stockbridge defeated Phelps in the 5th place game.

The Wausaukee Rangers had a rough time at the Wrightstown Invitational this weekend. Wausaukee lost to Wrightstown 0-2: 20-25 and 19-25. Against Manitowoc Lutheran, the Rangers were not able to win a game losing 0-2: 19-25 and 12-25. Taking on Weyawega Fremont, the Rangers lost a heartbreakers 2-1: 15-25, 25-20, and 13-15. It seemed that in their final match of the invite, Wausaukee was warm and won a match against Sturgeon Bay 2-0: 26-24 and 25-18.
