Peshtigo Nips Crivitz at Kress

Peshtigo Takes Win Over Crivitz at Kress Center

The Peshtigo Bulldogs and the Crivitz Wolverines took center stage at the Kress center on the campus of UW-Green Bay Friday night.

After two halves of basketball the Bulldogs had secured the tight 47-44 win.

"We looked like two different teams tonight," said Peshtigo Head coach Nate Motkowski. "Our experience didn't show in the first half. I thought we looked slow and tired. Then in the second half we looked like a new team."

Though the Bulldogs came away with the win it was the Wolverines that looked like they wanted it more over the first half. During those opening minutes the Wolverines fired in 26 points while holding the Bulldogs to 18 points.

"I just think the nerves finally caught up to our guys," said Motkowski. "We had a really good start then it seems like we were just watching the scoreboard. The guys seem like they were looking for someone else to make the plays."

Dawson Andrist was tough over the first half and the Bulldogs had very few answers to his hot shooting over the first. He piled up nine over the first half while teammate Jaden Werner followed up with eight.

We were getting on the ball really well in the beginning," said Crivitz Head coach Jeff Baumann. "We looked like we were scared to attack the basket. We were settling off the bat."

Cade Tackmier kept Peshtigo in over the opening frame, hitting for eight points.

"Tackmier is pretty tough, especially when he starts getting inside," said Baumann. "I figured maybe a little 1-3-1 would clog them up a little bit. We haven't played a lot of zone so far, I figured it would slow them up a bit and it did."

Peshtigo second half was a complete different story though as the Bulldogs fired up and made adjustments over the intermission.

Landon Lemke picked up the slack for the Bulldogs in the second half as he got things going with 11 points. Peshtigo's Bauman also did his part over the second with eight points.

"I am very proud of Bauman tonight, "said motkowski. "He works so hard and was defientely a spark for us tonight, gave us a real shot in this one."

By games end the Wolverines were led by Andrist with 14 points and Werner with 15 points. Eian Baumann posted six.

"We have been inconsistent this year so far," said Baumann. "This is basically the same group of guys from last year and it seems like they still haven't figured each other out."

Peshtigo was led by Tackmier with 14 points and Lemke with 14 points. Bauman posted 10 points.

"Its a little frustrating because we have been talking about doing all the little things right, said Motkowski. "Again I think our inexperience showed. We struggled with pressure and struggled at the line. Those are things we need to get together. I am happy we won even though it wasn't the prettiest win."



Oconto Takes Loss to Shiocton

The Oconto Blue Devil Boys had a rough spot last Friday when they were handed a tough 75-49 loss from the boys of Shiocton.

The game was by no means out of hand at the half as the Oconto boys were in striking distance of the lead 30-23. But a 45 point second half effort from Shiocton was too much for the Blue Devils to overcome.

Shiocton had the games top performer in Derek Bedor who scored 23 points. Caden Schmidt followed with 15 while Hudson Spencer finished with 13.

Oconto was led by Josh Delzer with 12 points and Luke Krueger with 10. Caleb Moe chipped in nine.



Sevastopol Falls to Stockbridge in Lena Holiday Tournament

The annual Lena Holiday Basketball Tournament began Friday evening and the Stockbridge boys came away with a 66-61 Tournament opening win.

It was close throughout as the Stockbridge boys held a slight edge at the half 32-31.

The Stockbridge sad outscored the Sevastopol boys over the second half 34-30 to take the win.

Leading Stockbridge was Jake Willett who took top scoring honors with his 23 points. Will Langteau posted 13 while Noah Hermann got 12 for Stockbridge.

Sevastopol was led by Kobby Pollman with 17 points and Brent Haberli with 12.



Menominee Takes Loss to Young Coggs Prep

The Menominee Maroons were unable to overcome a great start by the Young Coggs Prep boys Friday evening in Carney as they fell by way of a 67-48 final readout.

Young Coggs Prep was ahead most of the way and kept the distance they needed to surmise to the win. At the half Young Coggs Prep held the lead 34-18.

The Prep boys were led by the evenings top scorer in Bowen who fired in 21 points. De. Hate finished with 13 points while Couch added up 13.

Menominee was led by Keagan Monroe with 18 points and Badker with 11. Bellisle finished the game with nine points.

Lena Gets Slammed

by Valley Christian

in Holiday Tourney

The Lena Wildcats who hosted their annual Holiday tournament this past weekend was set down by a tough Valley Christian squad who ended their evening by way of a 70-48 final verdict.

Even though the Wildcats showed some good intensity over the first the Valley Christian boys were able to outmatch them.

Lena's Max Beyer was accurate over the opening minutes of play as he fired in a triple helping of three pointers.

Valley Christian matched Bayers mark with three long range buckets from Andrew McFarlane. But it was Isaiah Wade who made the difference for Valley Christian as he went wild over the first for 15 points.

Wade would be the teams eventual top scorer with 22 total points while teammate McFarlane added on 13 points. Jade Francis finished with nine for Valley Christian.

Lena's Beyer finished the evening as the games top scorer with 28 points to his name. Logan Shallow chipped in eight while Ralph Comins got seven.
