
Stanley "Stan" A. Jankowski,Issue Date: February 13, 2020 Stanley "Stan" A. Jankowski, 91, of Niagara, formerly of Goodman, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at Rennes Health Care Center in Peshtigo, with family by his side.
Born April 19, 1928, to the late Anthony and Catherine (Miszczak) Jankowski, he grew up and lived on the farm in Goodman until he met Alice Fatla from Armstrong Creek. They married and settled in Armstrong Creek where he was a cheesemaker at the cheese plant, until accepting a Manager's job at Vacationland Dairy in Crystal Falls, Mi. and moved his family to Crystal Falls. He then worked for Cloverland Contractors, where he received his electrical license and was a mechanical estimator and field representative. After that he was employed at Montgomery Wards in Iron Mountain, Mi. as a Service Manager.
In younger years in Crystal Falls, he enjoyed being a part of the Crystalaires Senior Drum and Bugle Corps., fishing, hunting and family mini vacations with Bill Ahola and his family. He spent many hours with Rudy Enstrom, helping him get the first Enstrom helicopter built and take its first lift off. He also spent many days with the Enstrom's' on their houseboat on Way Dam, but his proudest accomplishment was designing and building his family home in Crystal Falls.
After his family was raised, the couple moved to the Iron Mountain/Kingsford area, where he met up with John Lutz and they enjoyed many fishing trips, hunting and going to camp. After Montgomery Wards closed in Iron Mountain, they moved to Rhinelander where he continued working at Montgomery Wards. He then owned and operated his own service business until retirement.
After his wife passed away, he stayed in Rhinelander and enjoyed his home in the country and private lake. With strong Polish roots, he enjoyed playing the concertina and was a member of the Concertina Club. He played with his club members at many outings and enjoyed concertina "jams" at his home. He travelled to 19 states with family and friends and moved to Niagara in 2015.
Survivors include a son, James (Debra) Jankowski, Escanaba, Mi.; a daughter, Sandra Neargarth, Green Bay; a brother, Stephen (Nancy) Jankowski, Ravenna, Oh.; three granddaughters and a great-grandson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alice, he was preceded in death by a brother, John; three sisters, Antionette Schmidt, Agnes Chitko and Irene Niezabitowski; a son-in-law, Joe Neargarth and two grandsons, Levi and Stanley Neargarth.
Graveside services will be held in Spring at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain, Mi. Jacobs Funeral Home and Crematory, Niagara Chapel is assisting the family.
