Red Wave Win Streak Continues; Move to 8-0

Issue Date: June 24, 2020

Menominee Red Wave Keep Things Rolling in Double Header Win Over Iron Mountain and Negaunee

The Menominee Red Wave had a hard fight on their hands when taking on the iron Mountain boys last week Friday, taking the first game of a double header by a slim 3-0 margin while game two saw the red Wave take on Negaunee who they defeated in a 11-1 blow out.

Game one saw the Red Wave and the iron Mountains boys stay scoreless over the opening five innings. But in the sixth inning the Red Wave were able to break the silence with a nicely timed Hunter Goldschmidt two RBI single, giving the Red Wave a one 2-0 sixth inning lead. With two outs a short while later Menominee's Jaden Werner clubbed an RBI single that brought in Goldschmidt for the 3-0 lead.

Menominee's Keagan Monroe took the mound win over Iron Mountain throwing 92 pitches in which he struck out 11 and allowed just two hits.

Taking the loss on the day was Iron Mountains Caleb Johnson who gave up five hits and three runs.

Game two of the evening double action saw there Red Wave cut loose on the guys from Negaunee, sprinting away with the 11-1 win.

Most of the games runs were registered in the second inning for Menominee. Five came across in that fateful inning for Negaunee. The following inning was just as deadly as the Red Wave washed out Negaunee with five more runs. With one final run in the fourth the Red Wave had all they needed for an early end to the nights action.

Menominee Stays Undefeated in Shootout with Gladstone

Traveling to the field of the Gladstone baseball club the Menominee Red Wave found themselves ahead 8-0 before a small comeback set the games score at 12-6 in favor of the Red Wave over their hosting enemy Gladstone.

Menominee's scoring began in the top of third with a home run that drove in two runs for the early lead.

During the fourth inning a ground single from Dante Sartorelli helped bring in a waiting Keaton Uecke. Hunter Goldschmidt laced a line drive with two runners on during the inning to help bring the score to 4-0.

Menominee kept the steady march through the inning going with a fifth inning line drive by Andrew Schroeder for two RBIs. Continuing the fourth inning onslaught was Buddy Beyer who scored two more runs on a sacrifice fly which was followed by Uecke on a bases loaded walk.

Gladstone got in the game during the bottom of the fourth with a Blake Krouth two RBI hit to the outfield bringing the games score to 8-2.

During the top of the seventh the Red Wave opened things back up scoring four more runs to bring themselves to that 12 run final tally.

Schroeder took the win on the mound for Menominee getting four strikeout while allowing three hits, seven walks and four runs.

Baldowski took the loss for Gladstone with 10 hits allowed along with one walk and seven runs, He struck out three on the night.

Menominee's Monroe finished the evening at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Schroeder got three hits and two RBIs while Beyer and Goldschmidt both tallied two RBIs.

Red Wave Overpowers Bark River

The Menominee Red Wave continue to show off their high powered scoring machine as they rolled to yet another win in area baseball action, taking down the Bark River boys by way of a 11-1 final verdict.

The game started with relatively little in the way of scoring as the game was tied 1-1 after the third. But an excellent fourth by the Menominee boys saw the tally change to 5-1.

Leading the charge in the fourth was Jaden Werner who used his speed to crank out an RBI triple. Monroe also used his wheel in the next at bat, cruising his way to second as well as bringing in a run. Buddy Beyer chipped in with an RBI double as well while Braeden McMahon blasted a double to left to help bring Menominee to five runs.

Werner kept the highlights coming in the fifth and seventh inning. During the fifth Werner slugged a three run triple while added to the tally in the seventh with an RBI double.

Not only did Werner help to drum up the win at the plate, he did his part from the mound, pitching an entry game for six strikeouts and five walks.

Zach England took the loss for Bark River with four strikeouts, three walks and five runs allowed off four hits.
