I have been watching and reading the stories about the problems with Peshtigo's PFAS laden sludge disposal along with the issues they are having and will face with their biggest customer for water and sewer putting in their own waste water treatment plant. The school is also looking for a lot of taxpayer money to remodel and build on.  Even with cheap interest rates it will take a long time to pay the loan off. Both of these will cause the cost of living (taxes) in Peshtigo to increase, perhaps a lot.

 I wonder why Peshtigo and Marinette have not investigated building a treatment plant for the PFAS sludge?  It may be very expensive, however, with Peshtigo and Marinette both looking at millions of dollars for sludge disposal with no end in sight perhaps this needs some serious research done?

 Some Town of Peshtigo residents are needing to get clean safe drinking water.  From what I have read about PFAS the area of contamination could continue to grow for many years. I wonder what it would cost to bring municipal water to the entire Town of Peshtigo?  One benefit would be fire hydrants could be run throughout the town which should lower fire insurance rates and make the whole town attractive for industry and people that don't like well water.  I would not expect JCI/Tyco to pay for the whole water system however if the PFAS contamination continues to spread out they might end up paying for it all.  Only time will tell. Peshtigo could likely use the water customers no matter who is buying the water although the low bid usually is taken. However if Marinette requires the Town of Peshtigo to annex to get their precious water that may be a deal breaker for using Marinette to supply the water.

 Spending tax payer money on schools is generally a tough sell.  Now with so much education being virtual don't you wonder if it will ever be the right time to spend a lot of money on remodeling and/or building?  What will the future of education entail?  It is hard to predict as the idea of many people working from home was not really a consideration all that many years ago, now many people are working from home and have been since March of 2020 with no end in sight.  Will education remain virtual too?

 I wish I knew the answers. I am happy we sold our rental in Peshtigo a while ago.

Has the Republican Party become the elite Jim Crow like Trump Party?

I saw the crowd inspired by, protected by, and called to assemble by Donald Trump form on January 6. I saw and heard him direct it to forcibly take control of the nation's Capital because he lost an election by 7 million votes, and a large margin in the electoral college. In any other country this is an effort to overthrow the government. The Republican Senators with the exceptions of a few did not want to hear any argument put forth by the House managers, including Senator Ron Johnson. This is the same Jim Crow justice or trial a black man would get if accused by a white person and particularly a white elite of killing or committing any other crime. All the catch phrases also apply to both such predetermined guilt and innocent verdicts. The Jim Crow like Republicans such as Senator Johnson also talk about unity and healing but ignoring the cancer of Jim Crow type justice that prevents any real unity from happening. If this country is truly going to have a two-Party system that is based on justice, fact-based decision making, respect for others, variation of ideas that is reasonable, and arguments consistent with our founding ideals as a nation; those politicians that support or act like Jim Crow politicians need to be voted out and not voted in.

Could you put something in the paper about the fact that Walgreens is giving Covid vaccine shots?  I'm over 65 and couldn't get a shot at Prevea, Aurora or Bellin, but Walgreens really came to the rescue.  I'm not associated with Walgreens in any way, I just think many people aren't aware of the Walgreens option.

Dear City of Peshtigo Residents,

I would like to address an article that was on the front page of the Peshtigo Times for the week of February 10, 2021. The article was labeled "City of Peshtigo Partners with the Historical Committee." I Rick Berth was listed in this article without being given any information or asked my input before this article was published. 

The article stated that I as an Alderman am proud and excited to be partnering with the Historical Day Committee. I asked Mayor Malke on Friday February 12, 2021 "who is on the Historical Day Committee" and Mayor's reply was "a lot of people" and would not give me names.  The article continues with "they" are excited and feel everyone will be pleasantly surprised, "they" are in need of venders, "they" are looking for volunteers to help and "they" would like to thank those who have already assisted Mayor Malke with behind the scenes towards making the 蕦th" a huge success.

I was never asked any of this information that is listed in the paper and when I try to get information from Mayor Malke I am unsuccessful. Since I cannot get any information from the Mayor can the Historical Day Committee Members please reach out to me and let me know when meetings are.

I am not in any way looking for this celebration to fail.  I did vote yes for Mayor Malke to receive $25,000.00 of the taxpayer's money to go towards the 蕦th" celebration. However, I feel there is just a lack of communication in the City of Peshtigo and do not agree with my name being put in an article that was not previously discussed with me.

I would also like to mention that there is not an appointed Alderman seated on the water and sewer committee within the City of Peshtigo.  I asked Mayor Malke about this on Friday February 12, 2021 and her reply was "there never has been and the people that are on this committee are accountable and we never had on before". I feel that there needs to be an appointed Alderman on this committee to help oversee what is happening with the water and sewer within the City of Peshtigo.

Dear Editor:

I am asking is accepting criminal behavior by powerful people the standard in the Republican Party. It is clear from the case presented by the House Managers, Senator McConnell's statements after the acquittal, Representative Gallagher's reaction during the insurgency January 6, and other Republicans that Trump incited the violence, facilitated the violence by inaction, and rewarded the violence by his words "Remember this day, go home, I love you".

Trump's behavior of ignoring prior intelligence cost lives and allowed the violence to happen.

What did the 43 Republicans Senators including Ron Johnson and 197 Republican Representatives including Representative Mike Gallagher risk for supporting the criminal behavior of Trump? They may have been censored by a Party tolerant of criminal behavior, or primaried next election, hence their job and their power. What would Trump have lost if convicted? The only thing he would have lost was his right to run for Federal office. The patriots in the Republican Party were the seven Senators and ten Representatives who stood up for our Capital, rule of law, government institutions, and with the guts to honor Capital Police and military combat soldiers and Marines who risk their lives when called upon.

Both respected conservative and liberal constitutional law experts said this impeach was Constitutional. The lawyers for the defense were personal injury attorneys.

We need a conservative party for a two-party system, not the Party represented by the 43 Republican Senators and 197 Representatives.
