Menominee Wins Over Bark-River/Harris
The Menominee Maroons bagged a 76-55 victory Thursday in Menominee over the visiting Bark-River/Harris boys in playoff action.
"I think our intensity was really good tonight," said Menominee head coach Sam Larson. "We did have a few lapses in our execution but for a majority of the game we kept our intensity up."
Menominee had their way early on in the opening mines of competition and was able to work their way to a resounding 21-8 lead. Brady Wara opened the day with eight first-quarter points while Brady Shultz chipped in seven in that opening frame.
"We ad a few too many turnovers Tuesday night as well as tonight," said Larson. "We will definitely be working on cleaning that up. We just need to be strong with the basketball. I thought for the most part our defensive pressure flustered them tonight and got us some easy looks. We got a lot of transition points today."
Schultz continued to shoot well in the second quarter where he added up 10 additional points to help push his Maroons to a 40-20 halftime lead.
Bark-River/Harris made some gain in the third quarter, outshooting the Maroons for a 19-17 third frame differential. During the third quarter, Brady Badker got 10 points.
Menominee finished strong with a 19 point final frame while holding the Bark-River shooters to 16 points.
Leading the way for the Maroons was Schultz who ended the night with 25 points. Baker finished with 17 while Cooper Conway added on 12.
"We had some foul troubles today that we were monitoring as the game progressed," said Larson. "Things went our way through."
Bark-River/Harris was led by Joey Stein with 17 points and Carter Zawacki with 13 points.

Menominee Falls to Iron Mountain in District Title Game
The Menominee Maroons fell to the Iron Mountain Mountaineers Saturday afternoon 79-48.
The Maroons had their hands full against the tough Mountaineers who are led by division 1 pick Foster Wonders. Wonders definitely had an impact on the match-up as he finished the night with 44 points.
The Maroons were tough in the first half as they kept pace with the Mountaineers. This had a lot to do with Brady Waara's second-half three-pointer success. Both Conway and Waara were able to pull off triples to help pull the Maroons within striking distance 36-29 at the half.
After the break Iron Mountain went wild, getting 12 unanswered points before the Maroons answered.
