After reading the article Peshtigo Council on the front page of the Peshtigo Times, it was very upsetting to me. Shame on those aldermen that voted against our city employees getting bonus pay for working through the pandemic. Why would you begrudge Firemen, Policemen and Public Works employees additional pay for answering calls for help 24/7, day or night, and the women who were at City Hall working all though city hall was closed. It is not like having a 7-3 job, Monday through Friday. I appreciate everything they do! The paper also stated Mr. Berth requested a list of who the bonuses would go to. After all being an alderman I would think he would know who the city employees are, but yet he wants a list?! Unbelievable. What would a list accomplish? It makes no sense. To me this was a stall tactic, to not support it. It is my understanding these ARPA funds were given to communities with designated uses. What really makes no sense to me, the paper stated all remaining funds to be designated for Water & Sewer utility expenses. This was a no brainer, especially after all the complaints regarding our water & sewer charges. Again, why would they not support this? Please encourage your alderman to support our city employees and look out for the citizens of the city.
Also on the front page of the Peshtigo Times the old truck donated by Pat Donnelle and assembled by Adam Richter and Justin Seymour. Thank you for your unique contribution to our downtown. It is truly a pleasant addition to look at. One last comment to the Parks & Recreation Director Lori Tonn. Badger Park and other parks have never looked so good. Thank you and your staff for all you have done making out city one we can be proud of.

During the recent Lion's Club activity of Adopt a Highway for trash clean-up, it was disturbing to see what items are thrown in the ditches in this community, and particularly between Old Peshtigo Road and Pine Street where I was working. Some of the trash that was collected included, a bag of dirty diapers, full beer bottles, empty bottles, cans, to-go cups, hundreds of cigarette butts, fast food wrappers and bags, and most concerning as a medical professional - insulin syringes. Four large bags of trash were collected in this area.
What message are our trash-filled roads sending to visitors to our community? I am making a plea for everyone who travels our roads to demonstrate pride in our city and the surrounding areas and to dispose of trash in a more appropriate place. Working together, we can ensure that our community remains the beautiful setting that we are proud to showcase to our residents and visitors.
