Lena School Board To Act On Policy Changes
Issue Date: December 30, 2021
A presentation on the Lena School District's financial audit summary with Kerber Rose is on the agenda for the School Board meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3. The board is also expected to adopt changes in a long list of policies, or eliminate old policies and adopt new ones, as recommended by Neola, approve an increase in pay for support staff substitutes to become effective on Jan. 1, approve the Hi-Q advisor contract for the 2021-2022 school year, and act on Start College Now applications.
As usual, the meeting agenda includes opportunity for public comment.
Several of the policies scheduled to be adopted or updated deal with non-discrimination, including prohibitions against discrimination based on genetic information. Among others on the long list of policy subjects are some that address public comment at board meetings; anti-harassment; ethics and conflict of interest; student activism and expression; public performance by students; controversial issues in the classroom; home-based, private or tribal schooling; and relations with non-school affiliated groups. A new policy to be considered governs student conduct in a virtual classroom.
In addition to regular monthly business there will be reports by the Student Representative, High/Middle School Principal Matt Hanson, and Administrator/Elementary Principal Ben Pytleski.
