Donna M. (Newstrom) Werner, 88 of Marshfield, WI, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, due to Frontotemporal Dementia.
She was born on May 17, 1933, to Evans and Alma (Gasall) Newstrom, in Amberg, WI. She married Albert Werner in Chicago, on May 19, 1951.
Donna is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia McDowell (Richard), Linda Kroening (David), Brenda McClellan (Dennis); 6 grandchildren, Micah McDowell (Rebecca), Ruth Richardson (Timothy), Joshua Kroening (Meridith), Jacob Kroening (Hannah), Jonathan Kroening (Brittney) and Merisha Kroening; 4 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law and friend, Martha Baye.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 1992; a sister, Joyce Janiak in 2018; a brother, Evans Newstrom, Jr. in 2021 and son-in-law, Richard McDowell in 2007.
Over the years, she had a variety of jobs, including cooking, cleaning and house and pet sitting. In her later years, she worked at Figi's.
She learned to play the accordion in her youth and really loved polka music. In 1957, after studying the Bible, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She continued to be a part of the Marshfield congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses until her death.
Donna loved to bake! Cookies, bread, buns, pasty, and her famous Harvey Wallbanger Cake, even dog treats and made the best dill pickles in the midwest. She was happy to share whatever she made with her friends and family.
She had a special fondness for her many cats over the years and they were well cared for. Because of her love for animals, in lieu of memorials, please donate to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
A virtual Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm. An in-person Memorial Service will be held at her gravesite in the Amberg Cemetery in summer.
