Richard "Rich" Eugene Schahczinski, 89, of Wallace, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 4, 1933, in Wallace, Mi., to the late John and Rose (Martin) Schahczinski, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War and married Jeanette Marcione on Oct. 8, 1955 in Chicago. He retired from Arrow Gear in Downer Grove, Ill. in 1998 and returned to his boy hood home.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching and feeding the wildlife and caring for the property where he was born and raised. He was a member of the Menominee Knights of Columbus and several social clubs. His great-granddaughter, Morgan Schahczinski provided comfort and care before and after the passing of his wife, Jeanette.
Survivors include sons, Brian and David, Rick (Veronica), Dale (Theresa), Roger and Robert (Cindy); 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Gene (Bob) Stellmark and Rita (Don) Simpson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jeanette, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline, Martha, Vicky and Christine and seven brothers, Vincent, Herbert, Harry, Mike, Felix, John and Bill.
Visitation will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 14 from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Rev. Abraham Mupparathara officiating. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery in Sobieski. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
