THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Mary F. Boehm
Issue Date: January 13, 2022
Mary Felicia (Uecke) Boehm, 70, passed away on January 9, 2022, after a long battle with COPD, in the arms of those whom she held most closely, her husband and children.
Born July 30, 1951 in Menominee, Mi., she learned a love of family at an early age from her parents, Joseph Lawrence and Doris Lucille (Conant) Uecke, growing up in Marinette with her brother Robert. She graduated from Marinette Catholic Central High School in 1969 and then trained at Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute to become an LPN, and then returned to Marinette.
After many years as a nurse at Luther Home, she did a career change and went back to school to earn an early education teaching certificate, specializing in special needs education. She worked for over 20 years in the Marinette School District, spreading love and sharing life long bonds with students and co-workers.
She believed family wasn't just an important thing, it was everything. A season ticket holder to every band/choir concert, baseball game, theater production or anything else that her children and grandchildren were involved in, there was no distance too far to travel to show her love and support.
Her family and friends were dear to her. She loved nature and animals, from pets to feeding birds and chipmunks. She loved crafting, quilting and sewing, made many blankets and afghans for friends and family and loved music.
She played trumpet, guitar and piano and when not listening to The Statler Brothers and Gospel music, she was singing. Whether in the Church Choir, a folk trio with husband Ed and friend Kathy Langill or making Barbershop music with the Menominee River Chorus, her voice was often raised in song.
She is survived by her partner in harmony for over 40 years, Ed Boehm; five children, Patrick "Pat" (Mariah) Boehm, Kristopher "Topher" (Robyn) Zimmerman, Sarah "Sadie" (Zimmerman) (Anthony) Koenig, Matthew "Bubba" Zimmerman and Jason "Bun" Boehm; six grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Christine) Uecke and special friends, Joey Stepniak, Stacey "Magoo" Langer and Sarah Bezio.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from 11 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service and Social Gathering at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the future Mary Boehm Memorial Music Scholarship are appreciated.
