Crivitz Food Pantry Celebrates Birthday of Oldest Volunteer
Issue Date: January 13, 2022
In his nine and a half decades, Valentine "Val" Sikowski has seen a lot, from living through the Great Depression with his nine siblings to serving in WWII, from raising three children with wife, Ileen to creating beautiful woodworking creations in the family shop and gardening.
Born and raised in Crivitz, Val worked on the railroad for 39 years. After retiring, he got involved in a few local organizations two of which he's still active today: Crivitz Lion's Club (43 years) and the Crivitz Area Food Pantry. Today, Val is the oldest volunteer for the Crivitz Pantry, a volunteer post he's held for 15 years.
Even with all these activities, Val still makes time for his family, whether playing competitive games of Rummikub to cruising to exotic island locales to watching over his great granddaughter as she rocks on one of his handmade rocking horses.
The Food Pantry wishes Val a very happy 95th birthday!
