THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
From Our Readers...
Issue Date: February 3, 2022
Dear Editor:
Some residents of The Town of Peshtigo have been very involved in the water contamination issue which has impacted a small portion of the Town. A lot of tax payer dollars have been spent and after publishing potential remedies for those few residents this could end up costing everyone that resides in the Town huge tax increases. The Town Supervisors have hired big city expensive lawyers to work on the behalf of the Town and a class action settlement is going to be paying thousands of dollars to any resident residing in the plume area. They have had numerous closed meetings and have instigated private meetings all of which is to their own benefit.
When we have three Town officials living and impacted in this small area is it at all fair that other residents living miles away from this area are going to be asked to pay? These Town officials have refused to accept an offer by The City of Marinette to annex this small area and provide City water to rectify the situation. The Town Chair person has Marinette City water within a few hundred feet of her home so wouldn't it be more fair to the rest of The Town of Peshtigo residents to not be burdened any further with costs that do not benefit them at all but are very beneficial to The Town supervisors?
Recently The Town supervisors recommended paying up to $79 million dollars to correct this problem that impacts just a small number of residents. How can this get paid for and will elderly Town of Peshtigo residents be forced to move?
The Wisconsin DNR is the branch of government that has authority over the contamination of ground water and The State of Wisconsin has much better resources to litigate and solve this problem than a few residents of The Town of Peshtigo.

Turn the Other Cheek?
As the founder and director of a ministry, I found myself astonished by what a fellow ministry leader recently said to his fellow citizens, including those he represents in the 89th Assembly District.
Cheat like the Democrats or bend the rules? Punch our governor in the face? Continuously refuse to accept facts as facts despite overwhelming evidence of a clean and fair election? All this by Representative Elijah Behnke- who attended Bible college??
I am amazed how Republicans wrap themselves in the American flag while creating God in their own image- and are now attempting to force Christian Nationalism onto the rest of us while our embattled, feeble democracy dies in darkness. Throughout this whole destructive process, every one of the Ten Commandments is continually broken- from the First to the Tenth. Many Republicans don't seem to realize there is a New Testament, a Sermon on the Mount, or a Golden Rule. This delusional madness occurs under the control and guidance of a maniacal, dictatorial ex-president who mirrors the anti-Christ more than the Second Coming we might all wish for.
Governor Evers is a kind, gentle, deeply-spiritual man with a reasonably-sized ego, unlike so many politicians. Anything he has ever done is in Wisconsin's best interests- and done through love.
I strongly recommend Elijah Behnke seek forgiveness from our Governor and every one of his constituents in the 89th Assembly District for his abhorrent behavior- and start practicing love as taught by his religion.

Dear Editor:
Maya Angelou said, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them." Elijah Behnke recently showed us who he is.
Although many people would agree with him that Robin Vos is a "swamp creature", it's not very nice to call people names ?? especially fellow Republicans.
Was Mr. Behnke "expressing his point of view" or simply pandering to his supporters when he told them he prays to God for the opportunity to punch Governor Evers over the early COVID stay at home orders? Does he not know that Republicans succeeded in convincing the Wisconsin Supreme Court to overturn the orders ?? certainly a contributing factor in why Wisconsin has had over 1.48 million cases of COVID, over 12,000 deaths, and only 63.3 % of the population fully vaccinated as of January 26, 2022 (according to Our World in Data and the NY Times). How much suffering might have been avoided had Republicans supported advice from experts in epidemiology? Should we celebrate the Republicans' cynical stance? And what kind of a person prays to God for a chance to use violence?
Why does Mr. Behnke continue to peddle the totally debunked conspiracy theories about the 2020 election? He has not been able to produce a shred of legitimate evidence to support his claim. Sixty-some lawsuits have been thrown out by judges, even Trump appointed ones; and even Republican election officials declared there was no cheating or fraud. Is he lying or just hiding behind a willful ignorance?
Who is the real Elijah Behnke? Although he did not apologize for his statements, he did say he was responsible for not being more careful with his words. Should there not be a match between what he says in his office and the image he presents in public? Integrity includes doing/saying what's right even when you can get away with doing otherwise. Where is Elijah Behnke's?

"Will See You Soon"
Dearest Ken:
You were a loving, kind and caring
Husband, dad and grandpa too.
So these are just a few words
To tell you ??-"We Love You".
You always told us...That you loved us...
And we also told you too.
These few words "Were very precious",
They always saw us through.
Though your problems were much greater,
Cause you were completely blind.
We never heard a complaint from you.
You remained quiet - sweet - and kind.
That's only one reason we'll always love you
and keep you in our hearts...
Though now for just a little while...
We must be apart.
"So let this be a little reminder to everyone today.
