Re: Town of Peshtigo PFAS Contamination
In order to make an informed decision regarding our water and our property many Town of Peshtigo residents believe that ALL viable options need to be explored. It has been repeatedly stated that getting water from the City of Marinette is off the table but that appears to be a common misconception or at least only partially true. On February 18, 2022 it was reported "He [Mayor Genisot] said annexation has not been brought up to town officials, although he said private citizens have called him on the topic. Genisot, in his letter to Olian [water summit moderator], said, "It further appears that the City of Marinette's current ordinance requiring annexation prior to providing water service creates an impasse for the Town of Peshtigo board to consider the City of Marinette as a water source. If this is a correct understanding of the issues, the City of Marinette is withdrawing from this water summit so that the remaining parties may focus their time on solutions that meet the needs of the Town of Peshtigo and its residents."
Annexation to the City of Marinette does not appear to be off the table but also does not seem to be an option our Town Board is willing to explore. That does not mean that we as residents cannot explore Annexation further. Therefore a Survey has been created by Town of Peshtigo citizens in hopes of hearing from ALL impacted residents to determine their interest and knowledge in Annexation including the pros and cons of the process as well as general feedback regarding ALL viable options presented to date. After review of Survey results next steps in the potential Annexation process will be formulated and communicated accordingly.

Dear Editor,
Been missing work lately...well maybe not exactly missing it. It's been months. I retired early, partly due to COVID. Well maybe it's more about the reaction to it. With underlying respiratory conditions I find it difficult to work in a mask. Headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, just a few of the effects of wearing one for extended periods of time. Brought a doctors excuse but my options were limited, masks required. I retired. So the mask has hurt me more than the VID. But I'll be fine, no need for government intervention here.
I wonder how children are fairing under mask mandates? Believe me they are suffering. Video of masked children in classrooms, one of the saddest things I've ever seen. They look so brave, masked up sitting attentively at their desks, mostly uncomplaining, maybe just happy there is school at all. Their ability to adapt to restrictive changes astonishing and concerning. Are they being indoctrinated into a society that expects them to march unquestioningly in lockstep toward compliance? Will gags eventually replace their masks? What are they teaching in school? Will the next mandate restrict choices of food, what they watch, listen to or read? Who they listen to? God forbid it be their parents.
The state, school board and teachers unions will decide your child's educational needs. Again, God forbid it be their parents. They too should march in lockstep and let those in power take charge, or be labeled terrorist or insurgent. Harassed and investigated by agencies that should have better things to do. Parents should be involved. Teach by example, our legacy is how we care for and support our children, the values and love we show them. All of us have a stake in this. Today's children will shape tomorrow's future. The stakes are high.

Dear Editor,
Life has changed radically since I was a kid. There are many more things for kids to do and available to them. It is mind blowing. Unfortunately we face problems that never were likely even dreamed of only a couple years ago. Kids now have much more opportunity to learn and it should be easier. There is a wealth of information available on their computers and even their phones that we could not get even in a large library. Scary but true. It does not seem to me that kids are any smarter today than they were 40, 30, 20 or 10 years ago. Why is this? Younger people seem to have different logic and expectations also. Many feel entitled and I'm wondering why?
People's morals and senses of wrong and right seem skewed. They will shout you down rather than agree to disagree. Some will just pull out a gun and shoot. Speeding or reckless driving seems to be perfectly acceptable as does recreational drug use. Why?
There has been a pandemic going on for a couple years. Normally when a vaccine is developed it is administered after years of testing and before an outbreak. That has not happened with covid. I wonder if they should have followed their tried and tested way of doing things in the not so distant past? I wonder what the situation would be if the medical and political folks had allowed covid to just run its natural path? Maybe even just doing nothing may have ended this pandemic quicker? Sadly we will never know until next time something like this happens.
