What I think I learned from a discussion done by dairy farmers?
The area that seemed to be really clear to me is that individualism and competition alone is a major disadvantage in a marketplace controlled by large monopolistic companies in processing and distribution. The second thing is that mechanization allows larger operations to gain a price advantage due to a lower cost per unit. For example, going to ten farms to fill a trailer with milk cost more than going to two. The third thing is the lack of control of the small and medium dairy farmer in the options that they can have largely due to the large processing companies. The last thing I heard was the exploitation of materials they need to maintain the farm.
It seems to me that the power differential in the business will prevent any change in the business. This reminds me of the reason the labor movement started in the first part of the twentieth century. It seems to me you can not fight a tank with a stick. You need to find a way to come together and become a tank too. In short, organize in a way that makes many small producers a Walmart. The last point is that competition and cooperation are not mutually exclusive. Both can make a group stronger and more competitive.

After the April 5th election results for the Alderperson-at-Large were announced, I asked for a recount. The race was close with only 18 votes separating both candidates. On Election Day they ran out of ballots in two wards and had to use copies that could not be fed into the voting machines. Also, total votes cast were incredibly low; the lowest turn-out for a city-wide elected office in over twenty years.
The recount was held on April 11th and the results were the same. I paid for the recount so no taxpayer's money was used and was impressed with the way the recount was handled. I appreciate the help the City Clerk, Lana Bero, gave me working my way through a process following State Law that was complicated and a new experience for me. If anything, the recount gave me added confidence that our election process is fair, and our Clerk and poll workers are trying their best to follow the rules and procedures set out by state government.
I encourage community members to run for local office. It is not the easiest thing to do or one that comes naturally for most of us including me. I congratulate Dorothy Kowalski on her win.

There are injustices and countries in peril with genecide worldwide, so why is it that we chose Ukraine to get involved with?
Myanmar, Ethiopia and Yemen have been under duress for years, yet we let this go on without even a nod of recognition.
This countries democratic, left wing has been championing for the death of the unborn for 50 years, and find that acceptable, but for some reason they are willing to get involved in a world war over Ukraine, by finding Russia "inhuman".
For 30 of the last 62 years our military has invaded four foreign countries on false claims.
Vietnam: North Vietnamese gun boats attacked the destroyers Maddox and Turner Joy. Lie.
Panama: Manuel Noriega is treating his people badly, Lie.
Iraq: Weapons of mass destruction, Lie.
Afghanistan: Osama Bin Laden is there, he planned 911. Lie
Does anyone remember the MyLai massacre in Vietnam? And we condemn the Russians for what they are doing?
The U.S. carpet bombed Cambodia, Laos, and Afghanistan.
"Let he that is without sin cast the first stone."
The devils greatest lie is to convince you that he doesn't exist.

I would like to thank the two ladies who helped me when I became ill at the Good Friday Service at Holy Family Church. Your care, concern and ability to recognize my symptoms were truly "God Sent".
