John Gordon Wesley Rugg, 84, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at an area nursing home.
Born April 7, 1938 in Oconto, to Gabriel and Tillie Rugg, after graduating from Oconto High School in 1956, he joined the United States Air Force and made it a career for 26 years, until retiring in 1982. In his military career, he was stationed at over 20 air bases around the world, earning an Associate Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor Degree in Marketing. On Oct 30, 1973, he married Thongcome "Dee" Pinthong in Thailand and they enjoyed more than 48 years together.
An active member of Holy Trinity Parish, he enjoyed volunteering for Church functions, coffee with friends, reading and outdoor activities including fishing, camping and hiking. He was also a past member of the Toastmasters Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dee; a daughter, Julie Bell; two grandchildren; a niece and nephew, Jennifer (Tim) Phelps, and Richard (Rachel) Rugg and other relatives and friends.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Rugg.
Friends called at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m., until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating.
