George L. Collison, 85, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Luther Home in Marinette.
Born Feb. 21, 1937 in Rockford, Ill., to Kenneth and Aleta (Roland) Collison., he married the former Marie Lucy Gustin on July 13, 1957 in Rockford and she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2013. He had many professions in his working career and was proud of his times as teacher and as accountant.
In younger years, he was active in scouting, from being a scout to becoming a scout leader. He managed several women's fastpitch softball teams over the years and later in life enjoyed writing poetry and was active in the local writer's club. He was a faithful and active member of Fellowship Bible Church in Stephenson, Mi.
Survivors include nine children, Mark of Sioux Falls, S.D., Randy (Wendy) of Round Lake Beach, Ill., Brian of Freeport, Ill., Leslie of Peshtigo, Warren of Green Bay, Donald (Cindy) of Freeport, Ill., Paul (Peggy) of Shawnee Mission, Ks., Kathy (Ron) Harwood of Daggett, Mi. and Amy (Chad) Schwenk of Windsor, Wi.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; two sons, Dexter and Rodney; one granddaughter; a brother, Russell Collison and daughters-in-law, Pam and Becky.
Family received friends at Fellowship Bible Church on Monday, May 16 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Dan Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Mellen Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family with arrangements. A memorial fund will be established and expressions may be directed to Mark Collison.
