Daniel Roy Chaney, 66, of Peshtigo, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at home, after a short battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 28, 1955 at the Daggett Maternity Home, to the late Chester and Irma (Harris) Chaney, he worked a few years at Enstrom in Menominee before working his way through the ranks at Erda in Peshtigo where after 36 years, he retired in 2020.
A great athlete, he played basketball in high school, played many years of softball and finally transferred that slow pitch arch into a good slice on the golf course.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and overall outdoorsman. He always had a joke to tell, loved playing pranks on his nieces and nephews and always had a trick up his sleeve at the family poker games.
He carried on the annual Chaney Easter Hunt after the passing of his parents and had a love for all children, but his daughter and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three brothers, Charles "Buck" (Jackie) and Buck, both of Stephenson, Mi. And Kenneth (Sandy) of Daggett, Mi.; three sisters, Pat Lesperance of Ingalls, Mi. And Lee (Dennis) Baumler and Lori (Mark) Mueller, both of Daggett, Mi.; a sister-in-law, Darla and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, June Burde and Carol Deiter; two brothers, Mark and Donald and a twin brother, David.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Tuesday, May 24 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., immediately followed by burial in Lost Lake Cemetery.
