David A. Semrau, 74, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his home, with his wife, Carol, at his side.
Born Nov. 1, 1947 in Marinette, to Paul and Arlene Semrau, he spent his early life in Menominee and graduated from Menominee High School in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1966 and served for three years as a Specialist 5 with tours of duty in Vietnam. He married the former Carol Peterson of Marinette on Dec. 7, 1966.
In 1970, they moved to Green Bay where they lived until returning to Marinette in 1995. While in Green Bay, he worked at James River Corp. and later operated his own home remodeling business in Marinette until retiring.
In early years, he enjoyed motorcycle riding and later enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and time spent with family and friends. He loved cooking, working in his shop doing auto body work and a daily game of Scrabble with his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carol; two sons, Troy of South Carolina and Brett of Appleton; two grandchildren; two sisters, Paula (Tom) Reichl and Cheryl (Joseph) Salfai; two sisters-in-law, Judy Semrau and Kay Bebo; a brother-in-law, Gary Peterson and nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott; a brother, Gene; an infant brother, Peter; a brother-in-law, Wayne Bebo; a nephew, Dan Semrau and in-laws, Harriet and Edward Peterson.
Visitation will be held at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Wednesday, May 25 from 4 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 6 p.m., with Military Honors.
