David Lally Elected Suring School Board President

The regular regular monthly meeting of the Suring Board of Education Education on Wednesday, May 11, was also the annual reorganization meeting. Officers elected for the 2022-2023 school year were President, David Lally; Vice-President, Dennis Piepkorn; Clerk/Correspondent, Cathy Lundgren, and Treasurer, Wendy Wozniak.
In addition to routine monthly business, the board approved Open Enrollment applications and the purchase of a Welding Booth Exhaust system.
Principal Zachara Beeksma covered many topics in his principal's report, including Representative Mike Gallagher's visit to the school and implementation of Rural Virtual Academy in the district.
In the District Spotlight, Mike Druckrey and several students from Mitch Szwet's Construction 2 class presented a slide show of their building project at a private residence in Mountain. The class framed the walls, hung trusses, sheathed, felted, trimmed and sided a garage. Three students - Jeremy Hensel, Charles Winkler and Maxwell Fisher - Yancy spoke to the board about their experiences while working on the project.
At the start of the 5:30 p.m. meeting the board approved prior meeting minutes and the April financial report and bills.
