Semi-Car Crash Claims Life of Grover Woman

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reported that at 5:08 Saturday, Dec. 18 Marinette County Dispatch received calls of a crash at US Hwy. 41 and Kasal Lane involving a large truck and a passenger car. Law Enforcement, Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Responders were all sent to the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that a four door passenger car was attempting to pull onto U.S. Hy. 41 N/B from the median or attempting to cross completely to Kasal Lane into the Eagle Express truck stop. The car entered the path of a northbound semi-truck pulling a dump trailer loaded with scrap metal. After impact the truck entered the east ditch and overturned. The passenger car spun down the south bound lanes and the lone female operator was ejected and later pronounced dead on the scene by the Marinette County Medical Examiner.
The truck driver was trapped inside the overturned wreckage. After lengthy extrication efforts he was freed and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The deceased is Kathy Ann Trepanier, 67, from Grover and the driver of the truck is Lowell R. Reeck, 64, from Pulaski. Both were alone in their vehicles. Mr. Reeck was hospitalized and his current condition is unknown.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Marinette County Medical Examiner.
Assisting at the scene were the Peshtigo Police, Grover Porterfield Fire Department, City of Peshtigo Fire Departmant, Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Bay Area Paramedics, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, Wi. D.N.R., and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
This is the 9th traffic fatality in Marinette County in 2021.
