THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Town of Peshtigo Water Listening Session Feb. 3
Issue Date: February 3, 2022
The Town of Peshtigo Water Committee being led by the Town Board will be hosting a public listening session at Little River Country Club, N2235 Shore Drive, Marinette on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. to address the PFAS contamination and provide the public with up to date information on the status regarding a long term water solution. The meeting can be attended in person, face mask encouraged, or via Zoom. The Zoom link can be found at the bottom of the town website home page: TownofPeshtigo.org
With over 1,100 Town parcels impacted by PFAS contamination, the public is encouraged to attend the listening session as well as review several water documents on the TownofPeshtigo.org website. A water icon is on the home page providing a quick link to information.
The WDNR (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources), Strand Engineering and Town Board members will be present in an effort to answer as many of the public concerns as possible. There will be a PowerPoint presentation followed by a question and answer session, all designed to provide the public with accurate, up to date information.
The Town Board issued a statement saying they want to reassure all of the families impacted by PFAS, that they are working toward solutions and are committed to communicating with the public every step of the way. Monthly water updates are posted on the townofpeshtigo.org website and residents can sign up for notices to be sent to their phones or emails with a simple click of a mouse. "The Town looks forward to a strong turnout at the listening session and an opportunity to communicate with those facing this daily fear of contaminated water", the statement concluded.
