Crivitz Village Board Will Meet to Interview Police Candidates
Issue Date: February 9, 2022
The Village of Crivitz is in the process of hiring a new full time police officer, and reports are that there are several qualified applicants to choose from.
The Village Board will meet as a Committee of the Whole at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 to re-designate an Interview and Hiring Recommendation Committee to handle selection of an applicant to fill a vacant full time police officer position, and to appoint a temporary chair for the Administration and Development Committee , which is to address applicants for the clerk/treasurer position that will become vacant when long-time clerk/treasurer Marilyn Padgett retires. Date for her retirement has not yet been set, but is expected to be later this year. Meanwhile, Padgett has been working reduced hours in her office at the Village Hall.
Interviews with applicants for the full time police officer position are scheduled to be held in closed session by the newly appointed Police Officer and Hiring Recommendation Committee starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15. In addition to interviews during the closed session the committee will rank applicants, make hiring recommendations and possibly set terms of employment.
After completing that process the committee is to reconvene in open session and announce action taken in closed session, if any.
At the Jan. 26 Village Board meeting Village President Amy Grandaw had reported that current Crivitz Police Chief Troy Ugoretz and former Crivitz Police Chief Mike Frievalt were to help with the process of filling the position.
