Greenleaf Woman Killed In Roll-Over West Of Crivitz
Issue Date: April 3, 2022
A single vehicle roll over during the afternoon on Saturday, March 26 took the life of Sally J. Williams Griese, 62, of Greenleaf and sent Kim J. Thomson, 48 of DePere to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The four-door SUV in which they were riding was traveling south on Parkway Road when it left the roadway and crashed into the east ditch at Eagle Road, roughly 17 miles west of Wausaukee and 18 miles northwest of Crivitz.
When officers and rescue personnel responded to the call to Marinette County Emergency Dispatch on Saturday afternoon they found that one of the occupants had been ejected from the vehicle. She was later identified as Griese, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner. Thomson was transported to the hospital.
This was Marinette County's first traffic fatality of the year.
Reports are that there had been two female occupants in the vehicle and investigators could not identify which of them had been behind the wheel.
According to the report from Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve, speed and alcohol appear to factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and Medical Examiner.
Assisting at the scene in addition to Sheriff's Department personnel were the Town of Stephenson Fire Department and Aurora Bay Area Paramedics.
