Four People Displaced By Pound House Fire

Four people were displaced by a house fire in the Town of Pound on Friday, April 29. The Coleman Fire Department received a call to a fully engulfed house fire at W7499 2nd Road at 12:43 p.m. according to Fire Chief Tom Behnke. While in route to the scene Chief Behnke called for a MABAS working still which brought assistance from Grover-Porterfield and Pound Fire Departments. Once on scene and due to the high winds at the time, Chief Behnke upgraded to a MABAS box alarm that brought additional resources from the Lena Fire Department and Little River Fire Department.

High winds caused the fire to spread to the garage and camper that was near the home. The fire also spread to the woods area and the Department of Natural Resources was called to assist. Damage is estimated at over $250,000 and the home and contents were completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical, but is still under investigation by the Coleman Fire Department. No injuries were reported and American Red Cross is assisting the family. The home is owned by Ed and Heather Lansin. Behnke stated fire units stayed on scene till 4:45 p.m., also assisting at the fire was the Coleman Rescue Squad and Wisconsin Public Service.
