Legion Post Held Amberg Memorial Day Services

The American Legion Mullany-McTrusty Post #428 held Memorial Day services on Monday, May 30th at 11 am in the Amberg Cemetery.
The services started with the Wausaukee High School Band under the direction of Dr. Nate Ruechel, marching into the cemetery. Jim Fronso welcome everyone for coming out this Memorial Day. Dennis Elfstrom said a prayer. They played the Star Spangled Banner as everyone joined in or paid respect. Marge Holmes from the Auxiliary spoke. Judge Jim Morrison was the main speaker and honored not only the veterans who lost their lives for our country, but for those who served and survived and their families for all that they suffered dearly for our country. He stated "All Gave Some and Some Gave All".
This year there were 54 borrowed American flags from families of veterans caskets in the "Circle of Flags" around the veteran area. Marge Holmes and Dennis Elfstrom laid a wreath on the memorial stone. The Color Guard and firing squad did their gun salute.
Members of the firing squad were Bob Mathis, Denis Dejardin and Hugh Guy and Ron Holmes as caller. Color Guard consisted of Bob Barren and Chuck Fick Guarding the Flags carried by George Kloppenberg and Ron Schwartz. Jim Fronso gave a short speech and invited all to a luncheon at the St. Agnes Church. Dennis Elfstrom ended with a prayer.
The American Legion members put up the flags and took them down after the services. The American Legion Auxiliary of Post #428 placed small flags on the veterans graves in the Amberg Cemetery. Members helping were Lois Dunn, Alice Harris and Marge Holmes. Thanks to all who helped in any way to make Memorial Day special in Amberg.
