Bernita Claire Heisler, 81, died peacefully in her sleep on June 1, 2022 at her home in Manitowoc, WI. She was born on June 11, 1941 in Lena to John and Viola (Vorpahl) Kostrova and subsequently adopted by Francis Harley.
She was a 1959 graduate of Coleman High School, and received a certificate and license in cosmetology. After returning from Iceland, she spent most of her adult life living in Milwaukee County. Bernita married Winston Heisler in 1962 and had two children; Lisa and Kirk before divorcing in 1973. ?She retired in Feb. 2007 after 34 years at Acme Galvanizing where she worked as an accounts receivable/payable clerk. She moved to Manitowoc in 2007.
Bernita loved to read, fish, listen to music, dance, to travel and visit as well as go out to eat, take rides in the countryside while enjoying a treat from Dairy Queen, watching true crime shows and Hallmark movies, Badger and Packer football games, and playing the slots.
Bernita is survived by her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law Troy Felsinger of Newton, WI, and special friends Dave, Brenda and Travis Taylor of Port Charlotte, FL as well as many other friends and relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Kirk. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be on June 18, 2022 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Coleman from 9 AM-11 AM. Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow.
