Barbara L. Wolfe

Barbara Lee Wolfe, 92, of Madison, formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Madison where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the past three years. 

Born May 12, 1930 in Ishpeming, Mi., she was adopted by Mae and Frank Evans of Menominee on Sept. 26, 1932. She graduated from Menominee High School in 1948 and married Frederick "Ted" Wolfe on Feb 10, 1951. They built their home on Shore Drive where they raised five children.

A long-time employee of Marinette School District, she enjoyed working with children as a classroom aid. After retirement they volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, assisting in construction of homes in the Marinette area.

An active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Marinette, she loved singing in the choir, enjoyed cats and dogs and was loved by the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and turkeys that she fed in her yard. She enjoyed swimming, canoeing and sailing with her husband and family. Weekends in the summer were often spent picnicking near the water with family and friends. 

In 1980, she reconnected with birth family members and especially loved her Uncle Harold Kellan of Marquette, Mi., who introduced her to her half-sister and brother along with many others who she had previously not known. 

She is survived by three children, Joanne Wolfe (Rick Christian) Monona, John (Jean) Wolfe, Hayward and Mike (Krystal) Wolfe, Marinette; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick (Ted) Wolfe; two children, Linda and Rick Wolfe and two siblings, Jim (Marilyn) Ryan and Judy (Greg) Sossich

Visitation will will be held at Peace United Church of Christ in Marinette on Wednesday, June 29 from 10:30 a.m. until time of the funeral service at noon, followed by a luncheon. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
